Taylor Dalton

Adventurer, Visual Storyteller, and Cloud Enthusiast

I'm my most authentic self when behind the lens of a camera. With every click of the shutter and press of the record button, I aim to capture not just moments, but emotions, stories, and the human experience in the great outdoors. I have an insatiable appetite for seeing amazing landscapes and gaining new experiences. You'll often find me backpacking, hiking or on the road to the raw beauty our planet has to offer.

What’s going through your head as you lay in bed the night before … a hunt, a fishing trip, a ride?:

Whenever I lay in bed in anticipation of capturing a story the next morning, frames and angles are running through my head nonstop. How can I take advantage of the hour or so of good light to make this story hook the viewer in.

What motivates you to do what you do?:

It's really pretty simple and not that deep, but I am so motivated by the potential for the next epic clip or photo. I want to capture visuals that make your jaw drop.

How do you step your game up year after year?:

In my experience the best way to level up my skill is by using it. ALL. THE. TIME. I do just that, I have my camera in hand as much as possible and when I'm not shooting for work, I'm shooting for fun.

What would you identify as a quality you possess that makes you stand out amongst your peers?:

I'm extremely passionate about what I do. I'm very good at putting my passion before comfort.

If you could improve one aspect of what you do, what would it be and why?:

I'm trying to learn more every day and something I have been focusing on recently is how to tell an engaging story through long form video. I think there is something so cool about making what is essentially a movie. I want to be known for it someday.

If you could only listen to one music album the rest of your life, what would it be?:

It would probably be "Oh My My" by OneRepublic!

Past, present, or future: who is one person you would sit down with for a full course meal and why?:

I would love to sit down and chat with Jimmy Chin. He's the king of adventurous story telling. I think he would have a lot of valuable insight into progressing as a visual storyteller.

Is a hotdog a sandwich?:

No, a sandwich is filling between two slices of bread! A hot dog is in a bun, big difference ;)

Who has had the biggest influence on your life and why?:

My brother Cameron is the one who got me hooked on taking photos. That small push in this direction has affected my life more than any other choice I've made. It wouldn't have happened without him.

What is your most favorite smell?:

Pine trees or the desert after a rain storm.

What is the best book you have read?:

The Happiness of Pursuit by Chris Guillebeau

Would you rather be the smartest person or the funniest person?:

While I really value intellect, I enjoy laughter and happiness even more so I'm gonna have to say the funniest.

Your go to favorite meal?:

I love a classic steak and potatoes!

How would you explain what Canvas Cutter represents?:

Canvas Cutter embodies the qualities of passionate, driven, individuals who value hard work, positivity and joy.

What is your favorite Canvas Cutter product and why?:

I probably spend more hours sleeping in my dominator bed roll than just about anybody that has one. Mainly because I use it as my bed in my suburban which I live out of. Any night I'm not in it, I find myself wishing I was. It's the best sleep I get hands down.

What is something people would never guess just by looking at you?:

Most people seem to be surprised to find out I'm a type 1 diabetic.
