Shirl Larsen, aka Father Wisdom, is the founder of Canvas Cutter, the designer of the original Canvas Cutter bedroll, and an active part of Canvas Cutter’s product development team. After a critter chewed a hole in his wall tent on a mule deer hunt in Wyoming’s Region G, he came home and was unable to find anyone able or willing to help him fix it, so he bought an industrial sewing machine, taught himself to sew, and repaired it himself.
In 2001, he designed and built the first Canvas Cutter bedroll and over the last 25 years has sewn thousands of bedrolls, designed dozens of tents and sleep systems, and helped develop many Canvas Cutter products. A lifelong hunter and outdoorsman, he believes quality, durability, and simplicity are what separate good products from great ones.
