Generational Guarantee
Every Canvas Cutter sleep system is backed by a multi-generational guarantee. We build gear meant to be used hard, passed down, and trusted long after the warranty card is long gone.
Light Enough To Pack. Tough Enough To Trust.
The Summit 3.0 was built for outdoorsmen who want to move farther, camp lighter, and sleep better in the backcountry. It bridges the gap between a traditional bedroll, a bivy sack, and a lightweight backpacking shelter — without the fragility of most ultralight gear.
Shell that works when it rains.
The upper shell is made from 20D/400T Nylon 66 laminated with TPU film, rated 10,000mm waterproof and 8,000mm breathable. Rain stays out while heat and condensation escape. The 210D Cordura Nylon 66 tub floor adds 5,000mm+ waterproof protection underfoot, built to handle rocks, dirt, and rough ground. Every seam is fully taped, and every external corner is reinforced with abrasion-resistant Hypalon. Nothing here is an afterthought.
Airflow That Actually Works
Three integrated vents at the head and foot create continuous airflow overnight, reducing condensation and helping you sleep soundly through the night. The removable Mono B3 Nylon mesh screen keeps bugs out, so you can leave the vents open even in warm weather.
Structure That Holds Up
The 8.5mm aluminum pole system locks securely into built-in aluminum pole locks and stays rock-solid on uneven ground, a cot, or a sloped hillside. Inside you get generous dimensions: 26 inches of headroom in the center, 31.5 inches of width at the shoulders, and 26 inches at the foot box — noticeably more room than a bivy and far less weight than a canvas bedroll.
It’s finished with tough SBS #5 nylon coil and #5 resin zippers plus heavy-duty 1-inch nylon webbing cinch straps rated over 3,000 lb. Hardware that’s here to stay.
Durable
20D Nylon 66 top and 210D Cordura tub with Hypalon-reinforced corners at every high-wear point.
Waterproof
TPU film laminate and microporous PU coating — PU10000MM top, PU5000MM+ tub floor.
Ventilated
Three integrated vents at head and foot maximize airflow and fight condensation through the night.
Built-In Mesh
Removable Mono B3 Nylon mesh screen keeps bugs out while keeping airflow in.
Weather Flap
Full-length nylon weather flap seals the zipper run against wind, rain, dust, and UV — end to end.
Dependable Zippers
SBS #5 nylon coil and #5 resin zippers — smooth, reliable, built for repeated backcountry use.
Pole Locks
Built-in aluminum locking grommets anchor the 8.5mm pole system in place on any terrain.
Double-Stitched
Double-stitched seams throughout for strength and durability across seasons of hard use.
I use the Summit 3.0 on motorcycle trips and in the truck bed when driving isn’t an option after celebrations. It’s light, it’s tough, it’s quality and it’s easy to setup and breakdown. I had some questions about the pole system and instead of customer service calling me back, Shafer did and was great! I recommend this as a Spring/Summer bedroll, perfect on the back of a Harley and just in case you get stuck and it’s hot out.
Great quality
Very simple
Very easy to install
Lightweight
Super water proof
Good ventilation
I used it in my last trip to Oman for 8 days it was rainy and foggy.
This bivvy is fantastic! I took it on a long Labor Day weekend camping trip, part overland camping, part motocamping. On the moto camping part, it rode 300 miles on the bike, fully kitted with a sleep pad, sheet, down blanket, and two pillows. Set up was super fast: unrolled it, put the pole in, filled the pad and pillows and done. All less than 5 minutes. Which worked out great as a thunder storm rolled in on me. The bivvy held up great in the thunder storm. Blocked all the wind and rain. It was a bit stuffy, even with the vents open, but I unzipped near my head a bit and it was perfect. In the morning, clean up was super easy too. Woke up, popped the valves on the pillows and pad, made and ate breakfast then rolled it up. All done in a matter of minutes.
The only complaint I have is the cross bar. It is held in place by the tension of the sides. So if you roll over and hit the side, it collapses back in line with the main pole, letting the sides fall in. I am working on 3D printing a little 4 prong snap on piece to keep it in place for myself. I would 100% recommend this as is though. I can’t wait to use it on my back country trip coming up!!
Took this out for the first time on a back country mule deer hunt. It absolutely poured rain all night and the entire day on the last day. No water got into the tent I stayed perfectly dry. Very spacious tent (I’m 5’11”) takes me less than 5 minutes to set the tent portion up and around the same time to disassemble. Highly recommend the Summit 3.0
I didn't take photos , used only once so far.
Perfect size and kept me almost invisible.
Only had a little dew so I don't know about rain YET. I'm kinda claustrophobic and was still comfortable. Can't wait to do cooler weather. From Texas....
i’ve used it a total of 6 times now for 6 different trips and it has PREFORMED in the rain and wind and is perfect to strap to the bottom of my pack for the backcountry
It truly is light enough to to take, durable enough not to worry about, and designed well enough to add some comfort and convenience to your experience.
They built it like they said they would.
The insulated Klymit static v luxe sl pairs well with the dimensions and the taper.
Dear Canvas Team,
I am writing to inform you that my order has finally arrived in Europe (Eagle landed) after a long wait. The quality of work and design demonstrated by your entire team is truly outstanding. I sincerely appreciate your support and hope this product will serve me well for many years to come.
I also hope that you will consider opening a shop or distribution center in Europe in the future. Currently, the import taxes and duties are quite burdensome, but despite these extra costs, I am very happy to have received the item. :)
I spent 2 nights running jet boats on the Meramec river in the Summit 3.0. As y'all know, the Missouri area has a lot of moisture in the early morning. I had the bug mesh and the top cover deployed, bag stayed dry even with the water dripping from under a canopy cover, sounded like rain. I slept on a cot with one of the 4 system surplus bags inside the Summit 3.0, easy setup for first time out. The Summit 3.0 is easily configured and taken down, rolls up tight even with the 4 system bag. I liked it so much, I bought one for both of my sons.
We get it - it’s a serious investment. That’s why we offer a multi-generational guarantee on all our canvas products. We pride ourselves on creating durable, quality products that you can someday hand down to the next generation.
